As one of the actions planned in the SmartiCitizen initiative, your City Council is going to implement a new citizen information system that will send you notifications according to your preferences through the Santander City App, which will also be launched within the framework of the initiative. 

Nearly 200 information devices will be installed in different parts of Santander. To receive the notifications, you simply need to download the mobile App and to enable your Bluetooth system. This way, as you walk around the city, you will be able to receive notifications and easily access their content, whether you are a citizen, visitor or tourist. For example, if you pass near Plaza Porticada you can receive notifications about new exhibitions, or if you are strolling by the Palacio de Deportes you can receive information about swimming lessons for the kids. Inside municipal buildings, you can receive notifications from the City Council or about any matter of interest in th city.  

In addition to the smart tourist signage, which is more focused on tourists and visitors in order to inform them of events that would take place during their visit, places of interest, tourist routes, and other suggestions to improve their experience, your city will also have a new communication system that will provide useful information to the people of Santander about the actions that the City Council is carrying out in Santander. This is why several of the 200 devices will be installed in municipal buildings, so that you can receive reminders or relevant municipal information, such as, for example, the payment period for taxes, payment calendar, etc. In short, you can easily and conveniently find out about the most important news in your city. 

You can easily find out where to receive the notifications, thanks to new signage that will be installed in different places, near to the devices. You can customize your content and notification preferences through the App whenever you want to receive only the information that matches your interests: sport, tourism, commerce, shows and events, general municipal information, places of interest, environment, etc.
