The Municipal Library is a great place to visit and spend a pleasant afternoon, both for children and grown-ups: a repository of wisdom and knowledge, filled to the brim with books and texts of all kinds. For many, it is also the best place to find the silence they need to focus on their studies.
The Santander Municipal Library Network puts several services at your disposal: book lending, study rooms, book clubs, internet access at the library computers, reading areas for children, guided tours, etc. Furthermore, thanks to our people counting technology, we can give you all the information you need to choose the best time to come visit, and enjoy all the services on offer.
As we mentioned in previous posts, this technology has been implemented in some of the most emblematic buildings and spaces in Santander, with the objective of obtaining real-time data on occupancy at these locations. Some of these locations are the Ribalayga, the La Magdalena enclosure and the Mercado de la Esperanza, among others.
If you want to discover what the occupancy of these areas was for different times of the year, don't forget to check the "News" section on our website.
Today, we will share this week's data for the Municipal Library at Gravina street.
Throughout the library's opening hours, several moments of peak attendance can be detected:
In the mornings, from 9:00 to 14:30, attendance grows steadily starting 10:00, and decreases sharply at 14:00 —when visitors leave for lunch.
On the afternoons (from 15:30 to 21:30), a new peak can be seen starting 17:00, which usually lasts until 20:00. At that time, people start gradually leaving the premises.
Regarding the days of the week, Tuesdays see the least activity in the library, closely followed by Fridays. In contrast, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, in that order, seem to be days of greater overall attendance.
The return to routine after summer vacation can also be felt in the number of people coming to the library, as September has seen a significant increase in attendance compared to the summer months. This is probably due to the many students starting classes, and looking for some peace and quiet in which to study.
