The Mercado de la Esperanza: a landmark public market renowned for its quality food products. This fame becomes apparent at significant dates such as Christmas, when the number of clients grows noticeably. The data for December 2021 are particularly positive, with a 30% increase compared to the number of visitors on the same month of the previous year.

Last year, Covid measures and capacity limitations resulted in lower attendance than usual, with close to 62,000 people visiting the premise throughout December 2020. However, milder restrictions and the return of several activities contributed to better number for this past December, with over 80,000 visitors. The Mercado also expanded its opening hours, allowing customers to make their shopping while at the same time complying with capacity limitations and hygiene measures.

Just like every year, the number of visitors surged on the days closer to Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, with over 6,500 people choosing to buy the products and ingredients they needed for those special holiday meals at the Mercado de la Esperanza.

These attendance data let us develop, manage and adjust the public services in accordance to the needs of the space, as well as the COVID measures in place; for example, by diminishing the occupation of certain areas, ensuring the availability of distancing material during peak hours or making preventative measures available to citizens and tourists alike.
