The Citizen Card is a new tool that will unify many city cards that you previously had, combining them into a single card and allowing you to access municipal services from a single place.

The Citizen's Card offers numerous advantages such as identification, payment and access to  local services: public transport, bicycle rental, parking payment, ticket purchase, payment of taxes, access to municipal sports activities, library network, leisure activities, senior citizens, tourist services and cultural events, among others.

To be able to pay and access these services, the card has an electronic wallet where you can top up the balance, just as you did with the bus cards, or if you prefer, you can link it to your bank account.

The Citizen Card is available in three forms:

-Citizen Card: it is the most common form, designed for those who are census-registered in Santander, as it is nominal, meaning that you identify yourself with the data from the City Council census.

-Bahía Card: designed for those who are not registered but visit us often.

-Faro Card: if you are a tourist, this is your best option. With the Faro Card you will be able to access municipal services and it is valid for 7 days.

Soon you will be able to enjoy your Citizen Card, both in its physical version and in its virtual version through the Santander City App. Do you know how to apply for it? Read on.

Apply for your Citizen Card without leaving your home

Your City Council will distribute 70,000 cards for those registered in Santander, although you can also apply for it online and it will be sent directly to your home. To do this, you can choose between two options:

-Access the electronic headquarters of the City Council where you will identify yourself with your electronic ID and you will be able to apply for the Citizen Card with your personal information. The platform will also ask you to provide a photo that will be shown on your card. Once you have completed these steps, the platform will register your application for the card and we will send it to your home address. Furthermore, after this process, your personal access codes will be automatically generated (a username and password), which we recommend that you keep safe, as they will give you access to the other portals and services of the Santander SmartCitizen initiative, such as the Citizen Participation platform, the interactive corners, etc. They will be a kind of personal identification for the city.

-You also have the option of accessing the Citizen Card website that your City Council will make available to you, where you will have to fill in a simple anonymous form, i.e. you do not need to identify yourself to access it. Once you have filled in all the fields and sent it, you will have to go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau with a passport-sized photo, where we will validate your information to check that it is correct. There we will give you your card and your access codes.

Although we have thought of all the steps and ways for you to obtain your card in a simple way, if you have any incident or simply want to ask us any questions, we will be at your disposal through the Citizen Card Service Office, where we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
