The work carried out recently by the Santander Smart Citizen Initiative in the field of digitalization and technical transformation places particular emphasis on the communication between citizens and city staff —as well as on the citizen’s activities and interests, being as they are the key figure of the city.
The City Council aims to create a flexible and personalized connection model, improving citizen information service through a closer, friendlier management. This way, administrative and organization models may be overhauled, offering a single entry point for all the different channels.
A range of technological tools will be deployed to enable an increase in the quality of citizen information services, simplifying communications and personalizing the relationship between the City Council and the needs of its citizens. The aim: to make you a part of the very services you are using.
This initiative entails the distribution of a series of technological components throughout the physical spaces of the city that will help meet your needs as a citizen, at any given time and place. Here is a brief description of the components you will be able to use in your daily life:
A Citizen Card will integrate all your bureaucratic tasks, allow you to make payments and purchases, and give you access to the public transport network of Santander.
The Santander Ciudad app will allow you to access all the culture the city has to offer, as well as manage your paperwork and civic participation, among other features.
The Technological Spaces allow you to connect to Santander from your own neighbourhood, serve as a resting spot, and their interactive screens make it possible for you to make any inquiries you may need.
Beacons that provide you with information according to your interests, sending you notifications about what you actually care about.
These technological components are the visible structures that will make your day-to-day tasks easier. With these, the City Council aims to provide an answer to your requests, needs and preferences, while at the same time integrating them with the city services and focusing its decision-making on your satisfaction.
The City Council, well aware of how necessary it is to improve the services provided to citizens, is making an effort to make administrative tasks adapt and improve according to your needs, storing already queried information for later requests and drawing on a record of your interactions. Thus, procedures are made shorter and easier, improving the relationship between all the parties involved.
We want you as a citizen to engage with your city and benefit from the improvements made, fostering even the most trivial interactions with the City Hall regardless of where you are. Now, more than ever, your city brings us together.
