The Santander SmartCitizen initiative was born with the aim of creating convenient and easy-to-use services, as well as new tools and solutions, communication and participation channels and citizen services, in order to improve your quality of life and bring you closer to your city.    

To do this, your City Council will provide the necessary technology for the cintizenship to communicate with the city and be part of all these improvements. One of these tools are the "interactive corners", which are urban spaces composed of interactive screens, rest areas and games for children. These interactive corners will be placed throughout your city and through them you will be able to access a wide variety of services and utilities that we detail below. 

They will have interactive screens from which you can carry out municipal procedures and access the Citizen Attention service of your City Council, simply by identifying yourself with your Citizen Card. You will also be able to consult or recharge the card in case you use its prepaid mode. In addition, through these screens you can find places of interest in Santander, calculate how long it takes to get from one point to another in the city or check the availability of public bicycles in a certain place. 

You can also view the cultural agenda of Santander, events and concerts in the city, check if a public building is open and, in some cases, check its occupancy, as well as having information about the weather or the tides. 

In addition, if you are a tourist or a visitor, you can plan your routes, buy tickets for museums and events in the city, see in which restaurants you can eat or in which hotels you can sleep. You can also find all this information both in Spanish and English. Language will not be a problem when planning your route through Santander using the interactive corners and making the most of your vacation.  

In these spaces you will also have public WIFI connection available so you can access all the content we offer on the SmartCitizen Initiative website, as well as participate in the decisions of your city through the Citizen Participation portal. All this can be done while you charge the battery of your cell phone or tablet and rest in the areas provided for this purpose.  

A total amount of 15 interactive corners will be installed in different parts of Santander and, in three of them, in addition to the interactive screens and rest areas, children can also have fun thanks to the touch screens with educational games adapted to children, which will allow children to have fun while learning about Santander.   

Your City Council wants you to be the protagonist of the Santander SmartCitizen initiative, so we will provide you with tools and solutions such as these interactive corners, to improve our municipal services and quality of life in your city. We will make you feel Santander "closer and yours".
