Following a first phase dedicated to assessing regulation regarding citizen participation and representative bodies, a second phase is taking place where work meetings are being carried out —both with the different City Council departments and with neighbourhood associations. The aim of these meetings is to extract conclusions that allow the City Council to define concrete actions for the new Citizen Participation Plan.
In these meetings, the present state of citizen participation in Santander is being diagnosed, identifying the needs, strengths and weaknesses of the system, and allowing new strategic guidelines to be created regarding the new Citizen Participation Plan. An example of these new strategies would be the newly introduced tools put at the disposal of the citizens themselves.
To better adapt these tools to the needs at hand, an effort has been made to contact every neighbourhood association and municipal collective possible. At the moment, work meetings are coming to an end.
Once the results of these meetings have been evaluated, a new Citizen Participation Plan will be drafted and later on confirmed. This new plan will aim to adjust the actions carried out in the city to your specific needs as a citizen, continuing to improve municipal services as a whole.
We want you to tell us any suggestion and opinion you may have regarding both your neighbourhood and the whole city of Santander. For that reason, we are analysing every proposal that may benefit you, and the city itself.
